Participatory Design & Development: Lessons from VozMob.net
What do Participatory Design and Participatory Development really mean? What are some concrete techniques to bring these approaches into your own work? How can the drupal community better incorporate the desires, needs, and creativity of everyday people who don’t have specialized design or coding skills? This session will share lessons learned from our experience with VozMob.
VozMob (Voces Móviles / Mobile Voices) is a platform for immigrant workers in Los Angeles to create stories about their lives and communities directly from cell phones. Vozmob helps people with limited computer access gain greater participation in the digital public sphere.
We’ll share concrete tools, techniques, and workshop strategies that we have used over the last year during face to face workshops with the VozMob community reporters, including collaborative feature brainstorms and iterative prioritization, paper mock-ups, and more. If you have experience involving your user base / clients in participatory design & development, this session would also be a great place to share and discuss that.
This session is of potential interest to drupalistas of all skills levels.

Slides from VozMob presentation
Thanks to everyone who came to our presentation! Unfortunately, we had to turn off the screen capture software since it was causing our intro video to fail, and we didn’t turn it back on until the Q&A. But if you’re interested, check out the slides below. Thanks!
